God, I can't wait to be able to shave. I've had to have
a semi-beard for the filming (to tone down my "Backstreet
Boy" look...or as Greg Boggis puts it: "Couldn't they
have found a less 'gay looking' guy for the role?"....Thanks
Greg) and it's really starting to bug the hell out of me.
I don't know how Dave Rattigan does it (inside joke for my comic
brethren).
We filmed the big climax today. It was originally supposed to take place on the roof of the police station, but Mark (the director and writer) found a better, more cinematic place to film it. We were in a ravine that doubles as an auto graveyard. Completely obscured by trees, there are a bunch of old cars (I think in the picture above, it's a rotted out '56 Chevy...I know nothing about cars). It looks very cool on film.
There is a part in the scene where I try to jam my gun down Jerico's throat while screaming "I SAID SUCK IT!" Mark wanted me to do it three times in a row in order to get a few different takes. No way that was happening. I couldn't get past two (sometimes not even one) without bursting into laughter. I don't care if Tarentino, Scorcese and Spielberg were on the shoot...there was no way in hell I would be able to scream SUCK IT three times without bursting into laughter. I'm just really immature that way.
The filming went pretty much without a hitch (despite my occasional line screw-ups). I even get to mentally break down and have a Nicholas Cage moment screaming, "I am the fucking man!!!"...although, upon hearing it, my voice sounds eerily like Tom Cruise shouting "Show me the money!!!". We wrapped up in about four hours and figured we'd have an early day. Unfortunately, with all of the tree covering, we didn't realize how much it was actually raining. We had parked on a very muddy road in the dry weather...with the rain, we were pretty much in quicksand.
I had a great picture of the truck stuck in mud (luckily, Scott found a ho...the tool, not the prostitue...although that definately would have helped pass the time...we ended up digging the truck out in about an hour), but I messed up transferring the pics from disk to my computer. I lost all of the pics from today (with the exception of that production still above)So below, I've put another picture of the cabin from the opening scene and a few pics of the rapids where we filmed the big fight scene. More on that tomorrow.....
