Today was the day, of all the scenes, that I was the most nervous
about. This is the big fight scene between my character
and Jerico. This takes place after the opening "cabin
siege" and is where I "take him in". It was
originally scheduled to mostly take plave in the water in front
of a waterfall. But with the rains the past few weeks, the
water was neck deep at the base of the falls (not to mention frickin'
freezing! It was only like 60 degrees the day we filmed
this.) and there were some pretty violent rapids. Mark got
in the water to check it out (gotta love a director that won't
make you do anything he won't do), but deemed it was too damn
cold to film anything of substance in it, so he pretty much had
to scrap the entire scene he had planned and choreograph a new
fight scene on the spot.
The reason I was so nervous
about this scene was actually twofold: 1) The footing on
the ledge we were mostly fighting on was very slippery and jagged.
One slip and you would be in the rapids. And 2) I haven't
been in a fight, been hit or, more importantly, threw a decent
punch since I was about 18 years old. I was REALLY afraid
of throwing a punch "like a girl" and not being convincing
at all. Apparantly, the punches looked decent though.
Mark played back some of the scenes after we filmed them (the
magic of digital video) and he was very happy with how everything
looked, so I felt better about it.
OUCH!
I got popped....seriously. It actually may have been during
the scene pictured on the left. During one of the punch
sequences, I lost my footing and moved forward a little too far....BAM...right
between the eyes. And Scott is not a small guy...he's got
some serious guns. And apparantly, pretty decent aim as
he hit me DIRECTLY between the eyes, right across the bridge of
my nose. No bruise, black eye or battle scar to show
for...but it hurts like hell every time I have to blow my nose...Damn
allergies!!!!
I'll be uploding
more pictures from this scene in a few hours or so....
